William is the progenitor of the Boltons of the ISLAND. The Deed dated 1759, Vol 201, page 146, number 132173, mf 461388, lx, indicates that his second son was Henry Denny Bolton and his third son John Bolton. The property was the Island and Ballyhigh. The Deed dated 1747, Vol 140, page 196, number 93876, mf 560265, xxxvi, describes Doyne granting to John Bolton the property of Island and Ballyhigh. The Witness is Henry Bolton of Ballyrea. This John would be the brother of William -- the property of the Island become the property of William after John's death. A Deed dated 1765, vol 246, p 67, number 157326, mf 461411, lxvi, identifies his sons as (in order) William, Henry Denny and John. This Deed also indentifies the father, William, as of the Island. William Bolton in 1871 (Island and Oulart) is listed as owner of 2010 acres with a return of 1554 £ per year. The Island is a very large estate south-east of Clasheen.
