Born in Hampshire, 1831. Served Mutiny 1857 (medal and bar), China 1860 (medal and 2 bars). Tablet in St. Mary Magdalene's Church, Lahore - "Sacred to the memory of Robert Ffarmerie Godby, Captain in the late 35th Bengal L.I. & Offg. Commandant 15th Bengal Cavalry, who died at Meean Meer 7th September 1862, of cholera. Erected by his brother officers of the late 35th L.I. who deplore in his early death the loss of a gallant & promising soldier & of a well-loved comrade."
