He was one of the signatories of the lease of Morley Old Chapel on 25 Aug 1763, but not on 18 Nov 1793. Deed recorded in Wakefield Registry of Deeds Vol TT page 738 No 943 Indentures etc bearing dates 10th and 11th days of January 1743 made between Joseph Dawson of Topcliffe in the Co of York yeoman and Samuel Dawson of the same yeoman which said Joseph Dawson and Samuel Dawson are the two sons of John Dawson of Topcliffe yeoman deceased of the one part and John Wright of Leeds etc clothdresser of the other part ...concerning ....in the parish of W Ardsley.... commonly called House Croft and Far Croft ...which were in the possession etc of Joseph and Samuel Dawson etc witnesed by Samuel Dawson of Leeds aforesaid merchant and Robert Sopton of the same place gentleman Signd by said Joseph Dawson in the presence of Samuel Dawson and Freeman Flower.
