Her date of birth is disputed and whether she was the eldest or the second daughter. There is good evidence that Mary was the oldest. An early source says she was 22 when she returned to England from France in 1522. And a letter written in 1513/14 is written in the handwriting of at least a teenager. She was probably born in 1501 and the sources that say 1507 may have misread a 7 for a 1.
