Captain RN according to R.S.Whitaker but no independent record of this. Died of Cholera English Families in Sicily by Manfred Pedicini. Printed privately c1970 Baptism: Monk Wearmouth PR checked by CMR December 1998 MI in Messina reads ... William Sanderson born at Sunderland 12 June 1786, departed this life the 28th August 1854. Burke Landed Gentry 1965 edition records that he he served under Adm Collingwood and was severely wounded in the Bay of Rosas, receiving for his gallantry a sword of honour. It remains mysterious that he does not appear in the Navy lists.
