Served Egypt and Sudan. Captain during his Regiments tour of India he became Regimental Adjutant at Mhow in 1893. One of the co-founder members of the Cavalry Club in Piccadilly in 1891. Major late Montgomeryshire Imperial Yeomanry.Major 13th Regiment of Cavalry 1915-17 and Labour Corps 1917-19.Military portrait executed in 1896.He resigned his Commission in 1899 on the death of his Father and took on the management of the Broadclough,Winsley and Westbury Estates. Responsible for heavy replanting of woodland for the purpose of Shooting and Hunting between 1899-1913. Sat for post marriage portrait in 1907. He subsequently sold the Broadclough Estate in 1925 after Whitaker family ownership spanning 400 years. High Sheriff of Shropshire 1921 during the Shropshire Assizes Case against the notorious Horatio Bottomley the bootlegger and profiteer during the 1st World War. Magistrate for Shropshire and Montgomeryshire.Lord of the Manor of Westbury. Master of the Allbrighton Fox Hounds 1903-5 and of the South Shropshire Hunt 1929-31. Re-built the Hunt kennels at his own expense.
